Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece and capital of the prefecture of Thessaloniki. Founded in 315 BC by the former king of Macedonia, Cassandros, who gave the city the name of his wife, Thessaloniki, who was the half – sister of Alexander the Great. Thessaloniki was named by her father Philip during birth, as the former had just achieved a significant victory over the Thessalians.
Thessaloniki, an important center for the ancient Greek, Roman and Byzantine civilization, enumerates monuments from the entire spectrum of historical time. In no other city history isn’t competitive over Mythology as in Thessaloniki.
