THESSALONIKI

Thessaloniki is the second largest city of Greece located in the northern part of the country, in the region of Central Macedonia and is washed by the Aegean Sea and the lively port located on Thermaikos Gulf. Nowadays, is considered a great metropolis which along with its environs reaches a population of 1.200.000 inhabitants. It was founded by Cassandros between 316 and 315 AC and its name is taken after the name of the founder’s wife, Thessaloniki.
